The Jets continue to add to their defensive line.

The team signed veteran defensive end Vinny Curry to a one-year, $1.3 million contract on Wednesday after he visited with the team. Curry turns 33 in June and is entering his 10th season in the NFL. He spent eight of them with the Eagles and one with the Buccaneers.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas saw Curry up close in Philadelphia when he was in the Eagles front office, which selected Curry in the second round of the 2012 Draft. He has been a rotational player for most of his 123-game career but did start all 16 games and three playoff games in the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl run. He has 32 ½ career sacks.

Curry made three starts and played in 11 games last year for the Eagles. He had three sacks and 10 quarterback hits.

Curry is the latest addition to the defensive line, which the Jets clearly are working to improve under new coach Robert Saleh. They signed defensive end Carl Lawson last week to a three-year, $45 million contract and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins this week to a two-year deal worth up to $17 million. They will join Quinnen Williams, an emerging star for the Jets.

Saleh’s defenses in San Francisco always had good defensive lines and it is clear he wants that to be a strength of his defense with the Jets, too.
